■ The Story
Set in 1987 on L.A.’s infamous Sunset Strip, Rock of Ages tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, who have both travelled to Hollywood to chase their dreams of making it big. Their classic rock-and-roll romance is set against the backdrop of the legendary Bourbon Room, a venue under threat by developers who want to tear it down and replace the “rock-and-roll” lifestyle with a capitalist strip mall.
■ The Production
In November 2025, the Davitt College cast and crew completely transformed our stage into the gritty, neon-soaked Bourbon Room under the direction of Damien Gallagher, production by Dave Mac Donnacha, and musical direction by Claire Kennedy. Bringing the massive, arena-rock anthems of bands like Journey, Styx, and Twisted Sister to life required an unprecedented level of energy and commitment from our students. Capturing 7 national awards for production excellence was a testament to the relentless hard work poured into the vocals, the choreography, and the towering set design. It was loud, it was brash, and it absolutely rocked.
